Most riders buy a helmet for one reason: protection. That will always come first. But a helmet is also the first thing people see when you ride by. So why should it look like every other black shell on the road? At GhostBikerHelmets we believe you should not have to choose between a certified helmet and one that shows who you are.
Safety first: a DOT and ECE certified base
Every GhostBikerHelmets model starts as a DOT and ECE certified fiberglass open-face helmet. The artwork is added on top of that certified base. A custom look is never an excuse to skip the basics, so when you choose a helmet, start with these points:
- Fit. Measure your head and pick the right size. Our helmets come in S (56 cm) to XXL (62 cm); see the size table on our FAQ page.
- Fasten it every ride. A helmet only works if the strap is closed and snug.
- Choose the right visor. Most models are available with a clear, toned or mirrored visor.
- Replace after a hard impact. Like any helmet, it should be replaced after a serious crash.

Design: art you can wear
Every helmet is airbrushed by hand, one at a time, in the USA. Our Predator motorcycle helmet is the best-known example: cast mandibles, dreads and a texture painted layer by layer. Customers have also ordered characters such as Darth Vader and Skyrim Daedric designs, skull themes and completely original artwork.

Stand out in the riding crowd
Ride with a group and you will notice how alike most helmets look. A hand-painted helmet changes that. People remember you at the meet, other riders ask where you got it, and your photos from the ride look like nobody else’s.
A bold design with contrasting colors is also easier to notice than a plain dark shell. It does not replace good riding habits, so keep using bright or reflective gear, your lights and a safe lane position. Think of the helmet as one more way to be seen and remembered.

Keep the paint looking new
A hand-painted helmet deserves a little care. Clean the painted surface with a soft microfiber cloth and mild soapy water, and avoid solvents, abrasive cleaners and polishing compounds. Store the helmet in a dry place away from direct heat. A wall hanger is a good way to keep it safe and on display between rides: we make them in the form of a skull, a piston or a V-twin motor for two helmets.
